CONCEPT OF THE YEAR

SKY SCRAPER OF THE FUTURE

WHEN FIRST INTRODUCED TO THE WORLD, SKYSCRAPERS
WERE MEANT TO RESEMBLE NEO-CLASSICAL OR ART-DECO STRUCTURES STRETCHED TO NEW HEIGHTS.
FOLLOWING THE MODERN MOVEMENT LEAD BY ARCHITECT LE CORBUSIER, HIGH RISES EMBRACED THE IDEA OF MEGA & MULTI-FUNCTIONAL SCULPTURAL STRUCTURES. THEN CAME THE MIESEAN CURTAIN WALLED
GLASS BLOCK WITH ITS PURIST MONOLITH THE MONOTONY OF WHICH HAS PROVOQUED THE 80'S POST-MODERN MOVEMENT BORROWING AD-HOC HISTORICAL ELEMENT & ABSURDLY PASTING THEM ONTO
THE OLD MONOLITHS.
DESPITE THE DECONSTRUCTIVIST'S AND POST INDUSTRIALIST'S EFFORTS TO INNOVATE THE BOX, HIGH-RISES MAINTAINED THEIR ORIGINAL CHARACTERISTICS. WE FEEL THAT IT IS TIME TO FUNDAMENTALLY ALTER , REVISE, REDEFINE AND
INNOVATE THE VERY ESSENCE OF THE SKY SCRAPER.
OUR PROTOTYPE HIGH RISE INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING INNOVATIONS :
INTRODUCTION OF A MYSTICO-POETIC ELEMENT EXPRESSED AS SMOOTH CURVILINEAR PLANES LEADING THE VIEWERS EYE TOWARDS BOTH THE SKY AND AN ELEMENT OF MYSTERY CREATED BY LAYERED OPENINGS.
CREATION OF A COURTYARD/ATRIUM SERVING AS A VERTICAL MUSEUM AND SURROUNDED BY FOUR HIGH-RISES WITHIN ONE COMPLEX  (HOTEL/RESIDENTIAL/OFFICES/CIVIC) AS OPPOSED TO THE USUAL VERTICAL ARRANGEMENT OF SUCH MULTI-FUNCTION STRUCTURES.
CREATION OF A "VILLAGE IN THE SKY" AS OPPOSED TO THE CUSTOMARY STREET LEVEL SHOPPING PLAZA THEREBY INVITING VISITORS TO SHOP WHILE EXPERIENCING THE SKYLINE AWAY FROM THE STREET.
PLACEMENT OF A BUILDING WITHIN THE LOBBY ACTING AS CULTURAL CENTER SEEMINGLY FLOATING WITHIN A DUAL PYRAMID ALSO HOUSING THE COMPLEX'S ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES CENTRAL TO ALL CIRCULATION PATHS.
